ROYAL DANDIE
Ever since I can remember I've wanted a pet pot-bellied pig. I came very close to getting one when Bethany was little but decided against it because where we lived wasn't conducive to having something that big as a pet. I have learned they now make miniature pot-bellied pigs called Royal Dandies. They even make a breed smaller than the minis called Royal Dandie Extreme.Oh my word have you ever seen such cuteness? (except for my kids of course). You must go HERE to see all the photos! The boys and I like the solid pink ones although I like the black and white ones too. I've always heard they make great pets! I was so excited to find out about these little piggies and thought maybe my dream of having one would finally come true! Ahh, I'm in love...
SNAP back to reality... they cost $4,500.00 - $5,000.00. Are you kidding me? I'll put it to you like Chris put it to me (only I'll sugar-coat it a little). When I told him I wanted one he said, "You can WANT in one hand..." Oh well, a girl can dream, can't she!
In Painted Lady news, our caterpillars have moved on to the next stage:
Almost all of our caterpillars have changed into a chrysalis. The boys have really enjoyed this little project (as have I). Probably by tomorrow all of the caterpillars will have changed which means we can then move them to their habitat. After they're moved, we should have butterflies in about 7-10 days!
ABOUT AS "MADE FROM SCRATCH" AS WE USUALLY GET:
Yesterday the weather was oh-so cold, and the boys could only stay outside a short amount of time before they would come in and thaw out by the fire. Grant came in, and he and I were looking for something sweet to eat. We found this in the pantry C had bought:
I actually think he bought them for me to make rolls for dinner one night but who can really even see that it can be used to make a dinner roll when a big fat cinnamon roll is in front of it! Plus I thought it would be fun for us to get our hands dirty. I love playing with dough, getting all messy with the flour, and I knew the boys would too. It only needed to be kneaded for 5 minutes but that poor dough was kneaded to death. Everyone who wanted a turn got one, and a second turn, and a third turn. We just kept passing it around.
Big brother started us off (after mommy had a turn first of course - I had to show them how it was done - it had nothing to do with the fact that I just wanted to go first):
Look at those sweet hands!

This cutie patootie didn't want in on the action until the icing was being made:
THE FINISHED PRODUCT:
It said to make the icing a glaze. We like a lot of icing so I made it a little thicker. Here's the recipe I used for the icing- so simple and it really tasted good:
1 c. powdered sugar
2 TBSP melted butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
2 TBSP milk
They were delicious! G and I had seconds! ;) Since that type of icing is very similar to the kind you would get at Hardee's to dip their biscuit holes in, I am now on a mission to figure out how to make them since they discontinued them. How dare they! Hopefully I'll have a recipe soon.
Thankfully C made it home safe last night. We were so glad to see him, and I slept so sound last night with him here. He took Mac and Reid hunting this afternoon (G had enough of the cold and wanted to stay here). While I was sitting here updating the blog, he sent me this picture which was too cute not to post:
Don't worry, they're not cold! C has two heaters in the stand!
Have a great week!
